The tech behind ‘Forgotten Island’

Lenovo’s computing technology is helping power the production of DreamWorks Animation’s Forgotten Island, an animated feature inspired by Filipino culture, mythology and family traditions.

The collaboration combines Lenovo workstations, high-performance computing infrastructure, data center systems and technical services to support DreamWorks’ animation and production teams.

In 2025, DreamWorks expanded its partnership with Lenovo, naming the technology company its preferred provider of computing services, workstations and related solutions.

The partnership supports the demanding technical processes behind animated filmmaking, including the creation of detailed characters, environments and digital worlds.

Forgotten Island follows lifelong friends Jo and Raissa, voiced by singer H.E.R. and Filipino actress Liza Soberano, as they find themselves transported to Nakali, a magical island populated by creatures inspired by Philippine mythology.

The film is written and directed by Joel Crawford and Januel Mercado, the filmmakers behind “Puss in Boots: The Last Wish,” and produced by Mark Swift.

Its voice cast also includes Manny Jacinto, Dolly de Leon, Lea Salonga, Jo Koy, Dave Franco, Jenny Slate and Ronny Chieng.

DreamWorks Animation senior vice president Kate Swanborg said the technology partnership allows artists to concentrate on bringing their creative ideas to life.
