Senator Christopher “Bong” Go emerged as the leading potential vice presidential candidate for the May 2028 elections, garnering 31 percent voter preference, according to a Pulse Asia survey released Monday.

The Ulat ng Bayan national survey, conducted through face-to-face interviews from 17 to 24 September, placed Go ahead of six other potential contenders, giving him an early lead in the race for the country’s second-highest elective post.

Senator Robin Padilla ranked second with 19 percent, followed by Senator Bam Aquino with 17 percent. Former Senator Grace Poe received 14 percent, while Senator Erwin Tulfo garnered 10 percent.

Senator Francis Pangilinan registered 3 percent, while Metropolitan Manila Development Authority general manager Nicolas Torre III received 0.3 percent.

Another 0.5 percent of Filipino adults named other candidates. Two percent remained undecided, another 2 percent said they would not vote for any of the listed candidates, and 1 percent declined to identify their preferred choice.

Go’s 12-percentage-point lead over Padilla places him at the forefront of the potential vice presidential field in this survey, although voter preferences remain subject to change with the May 2028 elections still nearly 20 months away.

The results provide an early indication of the standing of potential contenders but do not necessarily translate into electoral advantage once the final candidate lineup, campaign platforms and political alliances take shape.

The vice presidency is among the key positions to be contested in the 2028 national elections, which will also determine the next president and members of Congress.

Pulse Asia’s findings reflect voter preferences at the time of the survey and should be treated as a snapshot rather than a prediction of the final election outcome.
