Police recovered P328,500 worth of allegedly stolen property from a 24-year-old robbery suspect in Barangay Parang, Marikina City, on Sunday morning, 4 October.
At about 9:15 a.m., a 69-year-old property owner learned from a neighbor that his premises along General Ordoñez Street had been forcibly entered and several items taken.
While heading to the property, the owner spotted a man riding a motorcycle with a sidecar carrying items he recognized as his and immediately sought police assistance.
Marikina City Police Station personnel traced the vehicle and obtained information from its driver that led them to the suspect in Barangay Parang.
Police arrested the suspect and recovered several items identified by the complainant. Further investigation led authorities to a junk shop along M.L. Quezon Street, where additional property was recovered.
The recovered items, valued at ₱328,500, included a 6-horsepower air-conditioning unit, commercial kitchen equipment, point-of-sale peripherals, an uninterruptible power supply, projector, radio system and other equipment.
Police said several items worth a combined ₱448,000 remain missing, including six commercial-grade stainless steel shelves, three four-door freezers and one two-door freezer.
Investigators found that the property’s doorknob had been forcibly destroyed, apparently to gain entry.
A robbery complaint is being prepared for inquest proceedings before the Marikina City Prosecutor’s Office.
The suspect remains detained at the Marikina City Police Station custodial facility.
