To further uplift the lives of former members of rebel fronts, as well as dependents of members of People’s Organizations, the Philippine Army and the Lyceum of the East-Aurora, Inc. are set to establish a scholarship program for these former insurgents.

According to the 91st Infantry (SINAGTALA) Battalion, the said partnership for the scholarship program was formalized thru the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) at Barangay Florida in the town of Maria Aurora, Aurora on 28 September 2026.

The partnership aims to provide qualified beneficiaries with access to higher education and support their efforts toward reintegration, empowerment, and community development.

Engr. Jaime S. Gose, President and Chief Executive Officer of Lyceum of the East-Aurora, Inc.; Dr. Muhammad Sulaiman C. Dela Cruz, Dean of Academic Affairs; Mr. James Francis A. Gose, Member of the Board of Trustees; Lt. Col. Michelangelo G. Ramirez, Commanding Officer of the 91st Infantry Battalion and Lt. Col. Ron Michael M. Soriao, Director, 307th CDC, 3RCDG, Rescom, Philippine Army were present during the signing of the MOA.

Also present were Fidel Navarro, one of the 91IB scholars, and Marilou Navarro, a parent of one of the scholars. Their participation highlighted the direct impact of the scholarship program on beneficiaries and their families.

In his message, Engr. Gose expressed the institution’s support for the partnership and reaffirmed its commitment to providing educational opportunities to deserving students.

Dr. Dela Cruz likewise emphasized the importance of collaboration between the academe and partner institutions in helping qualified beneficiaries pursue their education and improve their prospects for the future.

For his part, Lt. Col. Ramirez underscored the importance of collaboration between the Philippine Army and the academe in creating educational opportunities for former rebels, members of People’s Organizations, and their dependents.

He said education plays an important role in supporting beneficiaries’ reintegration, empowerment, and continued participation in community development.

The signing of the MOA underscores the shared commitment of the 91IB and Lyceum of the East-Aurora to expand educational opportunities for qualified beneficiaries while strengthening initiatives that promote community empowerment, peace, and development.

Through the partnership, the two institutions reaffirmed their commitment to helping beneficiaries pursue education and become productive members of their families and communities.
