A 27-year-old female housemaid was arrested for alleged involvement in stealing cash and assorted jewelry worth an estimated P500,000 from her employer in Muntinlupa City on Thursday.

The incident was discovered at around 5 p.m. at a residence in Sto. Niño Village, Barangay Tunasan, Muntinlupa City, after the complainant noticed that the lock of a built-in cabinet inside her room had been forcibly opened. Upon inspection, she discovered that the drawer containing approximately P200,000 cash and assorted jewelry valued at around P300,000 was missing.

During the initial investigation, the suspect allegedly admitted to opening the cabinet using a kitchen knife and taking the items. She claimed that an unidentified person called her and informed her that her employer had been in an accident and needed assistance, prompting her to access the cabinet.

The suspect further disclosed that she later handed over the items to an unidentified male individual riding a motorcycle, whom she believed to be a delivery rider.

The suspect was brought to the Incident Documentation and Management Section Office for documentation and proper disposition.

She remains under police custody and will undergo inquest proceedings for the filing of appropriate charges.
