A local Cordilleran artist raised P194,875 through a three-day donation drive to help a young boy who lost his left eye after being punched by another child in Baguio City.
The funds were turned over to Sean’s family on 6 September to help cover his medical expenses, according to local singer Roque Belino, who initiated the drive.
Sean’s family has secured legal counsel and plans to file charges over the incident. His parents said they have no plans to settle with the responsible party.
The boy’s left eyeball was removed because of the severity of the injury. An eyeball transplant is not possible, and doctors will fit him with an ocular prosthesis after his eye socket heals.
His right eye is also being monitored after he experienced blurred vision. Sean was punched by a 12-year-old boy on 20 August in Barangay Quezon Hill.
