SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union — More than 100 multipurpose vehicles were distributed to barangays in three La Union municipalities on Thursday, 3 September, to strengthen emergency response and public service delivery.

The Provincial Government of La Union turned over 101 vehicles during a ceremony at the Speaker Pro Tempore Francisco I. Ortega Convention Center in San Fernando City.

Bacnotan received 47 vehicles, Naguilian received 37 and Sudipen received 17.

La Union Gov. Mario Eduardo C. Ortega and Vice Gov. Eric O. Sibuma led the turnover rites alongside members of the provincial board.

Barangay leaders and municipal officials attended the ceremony, including Sudipen Mayor Wendy Joy Dengayan, Naguilian Mayor Nieri Flores, Naguilian Vice Mayor Reynaldo Flores and Bacnotan Vice Mayor Francisco Fontanilla, who represented Mayor Divina Fontanilla.

Ortega said all municipalities in the province will eventually receive multipurpose vehicles.

He urged local officials to use the units for rapid emergency response and other community services.

Sibuma, meanwhile, said the provincial board remains committed to supporting barangay operations and improving public assistance programs.
