It was obvious that Vice Ganda purposely snubbed Heart Evangelista during the recent concert of Yeng Constantino. They were just one person away but Evangelista chose to walk away and avoid having eye to eye contact with Vice Ganda.

Was it because Vice Ganda made it appear that Evangelista did not help in constructimg a better school in Sorsogon? Calling the school “bulok” (dilapidated) Vice Ganda said she donated school supplies for the school.

Kim Chiu airs frustration over botched flood control projects

It’s Showtime host Kim Chiu expressed resentment over inutile flood control projects which didn’t help mitigate flooding.

On X, Chiu articulated her frustration: “We’ve been experiencing relentless rain for months now. Floods here, floods there.”

“Many homes have been submerged, many livelihoods lost, and countless infrastructure projects funded by billions of pesos from taxpayers’ money have been damaged or failed to withstand these disasters.”

As a taxpayer, she felt there is a need to ask where our taxes go.

“Yes, OUR money. As Filipino citizens, we pay TAX. That’s why we have the right to ask: Where does the people’s money go? Where is the proper preparation? Where are the projects that should have been protecting us?” she wrote, noting that “heavy rain and typhoons are natural in the Philippines, but the repeated suffering of Filipinos due to lack of preparation, proper infrastructure, and responsible governance should not be normal.”

“Sometimes it feels like God and nature itself are reminding us that there are things we need to see, question and change.”

“Do we really deserve this? Are we just going to let it slide again?”

“Fellow Filipinos, let’s not forget what’s happening now once the floods recede and the rain stops. Don’t forget the families whose homes were swept away, those who lost their livelihoods, and the Filipinos who have to start over from nothing.”

It’s heartbreaking and soul-crushing.

In times like these, the government should be the first to act, the first to help, and the first to take responsibility. Public service is a responsibility, not a privilege,” she wrote.

“While we have fellow citizens with no place to sleep, nothing to eat, and no idea how to start over, may those in power remember who they truly serve. THE PEOPLE. And we, Filipinos, let’s ask questions. Let’s be critical. Let’s demand proper service and accountability,” she stressed, adding, “Because this is OUR money. OUR nation. OUR future. Let’s not forget.”

Choosing oneself

Barbie Forteza felt that the main takeaway of her movie, Saving Cherry, is choosing oneself.

“Ang gusto ko na maging takeaway ninyo sa pelikula namin (What I want as your takeaway from our movie) is it’s okay to choose yourself and not let society tell you otherwise,” she said during the special screening of the movie.

“Yung mga socially acceptable na nakasanayan natin kung sa tingin natin ay hindi naman tama para sa atin... (Those socially acceptanle norms we’ve come to accept, if it’s not right for us), basta, at the end of the day, let’s choose ourself. Hindi mali ang piliin ang sarili natin (It’s not wrong to choose ourself),” she stressed.

Playing Cherry, Forteza considers her character as her most most mature role.

“Actually, it was fun because, let’s admit it, not everyone who acts nice is actually nice, so I did not expect that I would have that kind of side. Wild but with reason, with depth, and most of all, I think this is my most mature role so far because it tackles marriage,” she said in a recent interview.

Saving Cherry opens today in cinemas with Mika Salamanca, Mikee Quintos, Sassa Gurl, AC Bonifacio, JC Alcantara, joining Forteza. The movie is directed by Ivan Andrew Payawal.
