First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos expressed gladness during her visit to a haven for less fortunate girls in Silang, Cavite, as part of her birthday celebration.

“Had the most wonderful time with the young women of the Sisters of Mary School Girlstown! From celebrating Mass together, touring the museum, sharing stories and watching their beautiful performances — every moment was filled with so much joy, warmth and heart,” she posted on her Facebook account on Monday.

Founded in 1964 by American diocesan priest Father Aloysius Schwartz under the religious congregation of the Sisters of Mary, the institution is a private Catholic residential school that provides free secondary education and technical-vocational training to girls from economically disadvantaged families.

“If there’s one thing this visit reminded me — it’s that kindness knows no bounds. When good people come together with generous hearts, beautiful things happen. And you could see it in the bright smiles, confidence, and happy spirit of these remarkable young women,” she said.

“I left Girlstown with a very full heart, and already looking forward to coming back!” the First Lady said.

Girlstown aims to lift children out of extreme poverty by giving them free housing, food, medical care, and a comprehensive education.

“My heartfelt thanks to all the wonderful people behind the Sisters of Mary School who continue to give these young women an opportunity to learn, grow, and dream. And to the Prieto family, thank you for letting me be part of such a beautiful celebration of faith, hope and life,” said the First Lady who celebrated her 67th birthday on 21 August.
