The Police Regional Office 2 (PRO 2) has intensified security preparations and personnel deployment across the region ahead of the observance of National Heroes Day.

PRO 2 said the deployment is aimed at ensuring the safety and security of residents, motorists, commuters, tourists and communities during the holiday.

Under the current deployment plan, 1,225 personnel have been assigned to police visibility and fixed patrol operations, 341 to traffic assistance, and 900 to checkpoint operations.

Another 264 personnel have been designated for border control operations, while 206 are on standby and 728 make up the Reactionary Standby Support Force. An additional 736 personnel have been tasked with other law enforcement functions, including administrative and support duties.

Security measures are focused on transportation terminals, major thoroughfares, commercial establishments, places of convergence, tourist destinations and other strategic locations.

Police units will maintain heightened visibility and conduct proactive security operations to deter criminal activities, assist motorists, manage traffic concerns and respond to emergencies.

Checkpoint and border control operations will be carried out in accordance with existing police protocols, with personnel tasked to prevent criminal activities and intercept individuals or vehicles involved in unlawful acts.

PRO 2 also urged the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious persons, activities or unattended items to the nearest police station or law enforcement personnel.

Motorists were advised to observe traffic rules, exercise patience and cooperate with authorities, particularly in areas where traffic management and security operations are being implemented.

PRO 2 Regional Director PBGen Mariano C. Rodriguez said the deployment is intended to address security concerns while allowing the public to observe National Heroes Day in a peaceful and orderly manner.

“Our Valley Cops are fully prepared to perform their duties and ensure the safety of our communities throughout the National Heroes Day observance,” Rodriguez said.

He also appealed to the public to cooperate with police personnel and remain vigilant as authorities work to maintain peace and order during the holiday.

PRO 2 said all concerned police units have been directed to remain on heightened readiness and ensure the prompt delivery of police services throughout the holiday period.
