Thirty-three elementary and high school students from across La Union received shoes, bags and other school supplies under the “Batang Mahirap: Edukasyon Mo, Sagot Ko” scholarship program of the La Union Police Provincial Office (LUPPO) and AQN Marketing Inc.
The school supplies were distributed during a ceremony at Camp Diego Silang in Barangay Carlatan, San Fernando City, on 19 August 2026.
The scholars come from the province’s 19 municipalities and one city. Their parents also received umbrellas during the event.
The assistance is part of the continuing partnership between LUPPO and AQN Marketing. LUPPO’s 20 police stations and two provincial mobile force companies provide the scholars with monthly allowances to help cover their educational expenses.
The partnership was renewed through the signing of a memorandum of understanding between LUPPO and AQN Marketing for the continued implementation of the scholarship program.
LUPPO Provincial Director Col. Redentor C. Ulsano urged the scholars to take their studies seriously and make the most of the opportunity.
Ulsano shared three principles he said could guide the students: choosing good role models, cultivating gratitude and committing to personal growth.
La Union 1st District Board Member Maria Rosario Eufrosina P. Nisce, the guest of honor and speaker, likewise encouraged the scholars to pursue their education despite financial challenges.
Former La Union Vice Governor Aureo Q. Nisce, CEO of AQN Marketing and the program’s benefactor, said the scholarship program has been running since 2007, when it initially supported 20 students.
The number of scholars has since grown to 33. Nisce also announced that AQN Marketing would increase its annual contribution to the program from P60,000 to P70,000.
Since its establishment, the program has supported 256 students, 22 of whom have since secured employment.
The program combines financial assistance from LUPPO with school-related support from AQN Marketing to help students remain in school despite financial constraints.
