  • A 17-year-old teenager Arvin Ramos Libertad died after drowning from floodwater in the town of Licab, Nueva Ecija on 12 August 2026.

    According to witnesses and rescue teams, neighbors and relatives tried to rescue the victim after he disappeared from their sight during the flood.

    The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) Nueva Ecija, along with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and MDRRMO Licab, immediately responded to the scene and conducted a rescue and retrieval operation.

    Under the directive of Governor Aurelio “Oyie” Umali, rescue teams were deployed to the area where he was last seen. After almost five hours, the rescue teams found the body of the victim and boarded it at a rescue boat.

    Personnel from the rescue team have extended their condolences to the family of the victim.
