Senator Christopher “Bong” Go’s office distributed relief assistance to 146 families displaced by separate fire incidents in Barangays Palatiw and Pinagbuhatan in Pasig City, his office said Tuesday.

The assistance reached 102 families in Barangay Palatiw and 44 in Barangay Pinagbuhatan.

Go’s team distributed financial aid, grocery packs, water containers, snacks, vitamins, shirts and other basic necessities. Selected beneficiaries also received mobile phones and pairs of shoes.

“To the families affected by the fire, I share in your ordeal. What is important now is that you are safe and that you have people helping you as you gradually rebuild your lives,” Go said.

He said prompt government assistance is crucial for families who suddenly lose their homes and livelihoods to fire.

The senator also urged residents to observe fire safety measures, particularly in densely populated communities.

“Let us always be careful and follow the authorities’ fire safety reminders. The safety of every family must always come first,” he said.

Go cited laws he authored or co-sponsored aimed at strengthening disaster preparedness and emergency response, including the Bureau of Fire Protection Modernization Act of 2021 and the Ligtas Pinoy Centers Act, which mandates permanent evacuation centers in every city and municipality.
