Sen. Christopher “Bong” Go's Malasakit Team extended relief assistance to 146 families displaced by separate fire incidents in two barangays in Pasig City on 18 July, emphasizing the need for immediate support and stronger disaster preparedness.

The relief operation reached 102 families in Barangay Palatiw and 44 families in Barangay Pinagbuhatan, who received financial assistance and other necessities.

"To the families affected by the fire, I share in what you are going through. What matters most now is that you are safe and that you have people standing by your side as you gradually rebuild your lives," Go said.

Go said families who lose their homes and belongings in fires should receive prompt assistance to help them recover, saying, “When a fire breaks out, many families suddenly lose their homes and the belongings they worked hard to acquire. That is why it is important to reach them immediately and provide assistance so they know they are not alone.”

The senator also highlighted measures he has supported to strengthen the country's disaster response system, including the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Modernization Act of 2021, which upgrades firefighting equipment, personnel training, and emergency response capabilities.

Go also cited the Ligtas Pinoy Centers Act, which mandates the establishment of permanent, disaster-resilient and adequately equipped evacuation centers in every city and municipality, as well as proposed measures seeking to create a Department of Disaster Resilience and provide temporary rental housing subsidies for families displaced by disasters.

"Let us always stay vigilant and follow the authorities' reminders on fire safety. The safety of every family must always come first," Go said.

The senator noted that his office remains committed to assisting Filipinos affected by disasters and emergencies to help Filipinos recover quickly during disasters.
