  • The Philippine National Police (PNP) announced Sunday the arrest of two high-value drug suspects in Mindanao and the seizure of approximately P39.4 million worth of illegal drugs in a series of operations.

A significant portion of the contraband, valued at P35.8 million, was intercepted during a two-day operation at a mail distribution hub in Pasay City on Friday and Saturday, police said.

Authorities at the mail facility intercepted 20 inbound parcels containing roughly 4,298 grams of suspected shabu, or methamphetamine, valued at P29.2 million.

The shipments also contained about 4,385 grams of suspected marijuana kush worth P6.5 million, alongside an undisclosed amount of suspected cocaine.

In Mindanao, separate operations led to the arrest of the two high-value targets.

One suspect was apprehended in General Santos City with suspected shabu valued at P1.5 million, while the second suspect was arrested in Cagayan de Oro City carrying suspected shabu worth P2.04 million.

In an unrelated environmental crime operation in Madridejos, Cebu, police arrested a suspect accused of illegally processing endangered marine life.

Authorities seized P3.78 million worth of poached giant clam meat and dried seahorses, alongside processing equipment. Police said a manhunt is underway for five additional suspects linked to the poaching ring.

“We will not relent in hunting down and arresting those who violate the law,” the PNP said in a statement. “We will continue to intensify our operations to ensure every community remains safe and peaceful.”
