BB Gandanghari has begun building anticipation for the planned biographical film about the late Ateneo Blue Eagles member Rene “Bobet” Baterbonia, hinting that the search for the actors who will portray his family is about to begin.
On Instagram, Gandanghari shared a teaser suggesting that casting is now underway for the roles of Baterbonia, as well as his parents, writing, “The Search is ON…. Who will be?! Mommy Rovelyn, Daddy Rene and BOBET!! Abangan…”
The filmmaker also posted a touching photo of herself wearing Baterbonia’s basketball jersey, accompanied by a heartfelt tribute.
“It is with deep respect and honor that I get to wear your jersey, even just for a day. We will not forget,” she wrote.
The announcement follows reports that Gandanghari will direct the upcoming film based on Baterbonia’s life. While the project has sparked excitement among supporters eager to see his story brought to the screen, it has also generated mixed reactions online, with some netizens questioning her involvement and criticizing her recent visits with Baterbonia’s grieving family.
Despite the online noise, Gandanghari appears focused on moving the project forward, honoring the late athlete’s legacy as preparations for the film continue.
