Korean domestic ‘abuser’ behind bars
A South Korean tourist was arrested Saturday evening after condominium security guards placed him under a citizen’s arrest for allegedly assaulting his Filipino live-in partner inside their 37th-floor unit.
The suspect, identified by police as alias Hyun, was taken into custody by Pasay City police officers following the intervention by the building’s security staff.
Reports disclosed that the incident occurred around 6 p.m. 11 July at a condominium complex along the Roxas Boulevard Service Road in Barangay 7, Pasay City.
According to police, the 26-year-old victim fled the apartment and ran to the lobby to seek help from the security guard on duty. She reported that her partner had repeatedly slapped her, physically attacked her and forced her to kneel on the floor.
Two security guards went to the couple’s unit to investigate. After the victim positively identified Hyun as her attacker, the guards placed him under a citizen’s arrest.
Responding officers from the Pasay City Police Station took custody of the suspect and transported him to Police Substation 1 for initial booking.
Investigators said the couple had been living together for about a year. The victim told police she had endured multiple previous instances of physical abuse that went unreported, but decided to press formal charges following Saturday’s assault.
Alias Hyun has been turned over to the Pasay City Police Station’s Women and Children Protection Desk for comprehensive documentation.
