Three men were arrested and a fourth suspect remains at large following the alleged rape of a 24-year-old woman in Pasay on Wednesday police said.
The Pasay City Police Station identified the arrested suspects as alias Raymond, alias Aaron and alias Cristopher.
Police said all three work as e-bike drivers and reside in Malibay, Pasay. Authorities are still pursuing a fourth suspect, identified as Simeon.
The suspects face complaints for allegedly violating the country’s Anti-Rape Law of 1997.
According to the police investigation, the victim, a housekeeping staff member, attended a birthday gathering in Malibay at around 6 a.m. Wednesday, where she became intoxicated. She boarded an e-bike driven by Raymond to go home.
Instead of taking her to her destination, Raymond allegedly drove the victim through several areas before stopping along F. Angeles Street in Barangay 79, where he met Aaron and Simeon.
Investigators said the three suspects took advantage of the victim’s condition and forced her into a lodging establishment, where she was sexually assaulted.
Cristopher arrived later and allegedly attempted to assault the victim, but she resisted, police said.
Following the assault, the suspects forced the victim onto an e-bike driven by Cristopher while the other three fled separately.
The victim managed to seek help when they reached the vicinity of EDSA Rotonda, where her shouts for assistance caught the attention of Metropolitan Manila Development Authority personnel.
The agency’s personnel rescued the woman and escorted her to the Baclaran Police Sub-Station to report the incident. Police immediately launched a follow-up operation, arresting three of the suspects hours later.
The arrested men were brought to the Pasay City General Hospital for a medical examination before being turned over to the Women and Children Protection Desk for documentation and case building.
The case is being prepared for inquest proceedings before the Pasay City Prosecutor’s Office.
Southern Police District chief Glenn Oliver C. Cinco said authorities are using all integrated intelligence resources to locate and arrest the remaining suspect.
“We stand firm in our commitment to protect women and ensure that perpetrators of such heinous acts face the full severity of the law,” Cinco said.
