The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) reported the successful arrest of a carnapping suspect early Tuesday morning in West Triangle, Quezon City.
The 30-year-old suspect identified as alias “Jasper” is a resident of Brgy. Poblacion, Makati City who stole a vehicle in a condominium in Old Balara on Sunday.
“The operation stemmed from a carnapping incident reported by the victim, whose silver Ford Fiesta 4DR MID Sedan was stolen from the basement parking area of his condominium in Brgy. Old Balara, Quezon City, on the evening of July 5, 2026,” the QCPD told media reporters.
According to QCPD, the suspect, alias “Jasper” had stayed overnight as a guest at the victim's condominium unit and in the afternoon of Monday, July 6, at around 3:00 PM, the victim dropped him off at a nearby public transportation area.
“At 9:15 PM of the same day, the victim discovered that the spare keys to both his Ford Fiesta and Hyundai Kona were missing. Upon checking the condominium parking area, he found that his Ford Fiesta had already been taken”, the police investigation further stated.
The victim later received text messages from alias “Jasper” admitting that the suspect had taken the vehicle and demanding P30,000 in exchange for the vehicle return.
“Despite the victim's efforts to negotiate, the suspect refused to return the vehicle. The victim likewise received information that the suspect was attempting to sell the stolen car through a common acquaintance,” the QCPD added in its report.
Following the incident, the joint operatives of Batasan Police Station 13 and District Anti-Carnapping Unit (DACU) immediately launched an entrapment operation on Monday evening.
At 10:30 PM, DACU and PS 6 operatives chose a police officer to act as a buyer and arranged to meet the suspect along Times St., corner Examiner St., Brgy. West Triangle in Quezon City.
The QCPD personnel, upon arrival, spotted alias “Japser” driving the reported stolen vehicle and immediately approached and asked the suspect to present proof of ownership.
“When he [the suspect] failed to produce any, the operatives identified themselves, arrested the suspect and recovered the stolen vehicle at 1:00 AM of July 7, 2026,” the QCPD reported.
Alias “Japser” will be charged for violation of Republic Act No. 10883, otherwise known as the New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016, before the Quezon City Prosecutor's Office.
"I commend the operatives of the DACU and Police Station 6 for this success. Their swift response and effective coordination are proof of their dedication and continued efforts to maintain peace, order, and the safety of every resident in Quezon City,” said District Director Police Brigadier General Randy Glenn Silvio.
