An alleged scammer involved in a fraudulent luxury watch transaction was arrested in Barangay Tambo, Parañaque City early Tuesday morning.
At around 4:15 a.m., the victim approached Parañaque City Police Station personnel regarding an alleged scam involving a Bulgari Serpenti wristwatch valued at approximately P180,000 inside a casino establishment.
Initial investigation showed that the victim and the suspect had agreed that the luxury item would undergo authentication prior to payment. However, the suspect allegedly misrepresented key details of the transaction and attempted to leave the premises without completing the agreed process.
Police personnel conducted verification and discovered inconsistencies in the documents presented by the suspect, prompting the victim to pursue legal action. This led to the immediate apprehension of the suspect and the initiation of appropriate procedures.
A complaint for swindling/estafa under Article 315 of the Revised Penal Code is being prepared for filing before the Parañaque City Prosecutor’s Office.
National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) regional director P/Maj. Gen Anthony Aberin underscored the importance of vigilance, especially in high‑value transactions where fraudsters often exploit unsuspecting individuals.
“Criminals continue to find new ways to exploit unsuspecting individuals, but through public awareness and timely reporting, these schemes can be prevented. The police will continue to pursue those who violate the law while safeguarding the interests of our communities,” he said.
