A 10-year-old boy died after being run over by a sports utility vehicle in Barangay Balingasa, Quezon City on Friday evening, local police reported Monday.
Closed-circuit television footage and a police investigation revealed the child was run over twice by the vehicle.
“He lay down on the road and then sat up until the SUV driven by our suspect arrived,” said Police Lt. Jason Santoceldes, commander of the Quezon City Police District Traffic Sector 1.
“It appears the driver did not notice the child because the road slopes downward, causing him to run over the young victim,” he added.
The boy was rushed to a nearby hospital but later died from his injuries.
The 55-year-old driver was taken into custody by the traffic sector police.
