PAF marks 79th anniversary, vows to strengthen mission readiness

The Philippine Air Force (PAF) marked its 79th founding anniversary on 1 July with a renewed commitment to strengthening its capabilities and adapting to the country's evolving security environment.
The celebration, held at the PAF Multipurpose Gymnasium at Colonel Jesus Villamor Air Base, was attended by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., who served as guest of honor and speaker.
Carrying the theme, "PAF@79: Forging a Credible, Agile, and Multi-Domain Air Force through Mission Readiness, Capability Development, and Values-Based Service," the anniversary highlighted the PAF's continuing transformation into a modern, responsive, and mission-ready force.
The event also recognized outstanding PAF units and personnel for their operational excellence, exceptional performance, and dedication to duty.
PAF Commanding General Lt. Gen. Arthur Cordura said the service remains committed to becoming an "agile, credible, responsive, and multi-domain" force through mission readiness, capability development, and values-based service.
He emphasized the importance of adaptability, modernization, and human resource development in ensuring the PAF remains a reliable force provider and defender of the country's sovereignty.
President Marcos congratulated the PAF on its 79 years of service and recognized its transformation into a mission-oriented, capability-driven organization.
He cited the Air Force's contributions to national defense, humanitarian assistance and disaster response, and territorial security, while assuring continued government support for its modernization and capability development programs.
The President also reiterated his directive to ensure the airworthiness of all aircraft and the strict observance of safety protocols in both missions and training activities.
"Ensure the airworthiness of all these aircraft and uphold rigorous safety protocols in mission and training activities," Marcos said, stressing that the safety of every airman and airwoman remains paramount.
Cordura said the PAF will continue advancing its air power capabilities, enhancing operational readiness, and upholding excellence, integrity, and innovation as it carries out its mission to defend the nation and serve the Filipino people.
