The city government thanked the DPWH for supporting Marikina's ongoing dredging operations.
Teodoro said continuous dredging has helped reduce flooding, particularly in communities located near the Marikina River.
The city has invested in specialized equipment, including amphibious excavators, to improve the river's carrying capacity and speed up water flow during heavy rains.
While acknowledging that no flood control system can completely eliminate flooding caused by extreme weather, Teodoro said the city remains committed to strengthening disaster resilience and protecting lives and property.
Before inspecting the equipment, the mayor presided over a pre-disaster risk assessment meeting attended by the Marikina Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, police, firefighters, the Schools Division Office, and other city departments to ensure resources are ready for the rainy season.
Teodoro also ordered the regular clearing and declogging of drainage systems and waterways and urged residents to properly dispose of garbage to prevent clogged rivers and creeks.
She likewise directed city officials to prepare Marikina's 36 evacuation centers, ensuring adequate supplies of basic necessities and fully equipped community kitchens.
The mayor encouraged residents to remain vigilant, monitor official advisories and river water levels, and cooperate with authorities during emergencies.
