DAVAO — The Davao City Council honored Dabawenya junior golfer Zoey Behati Ruiz Mascariñas after bringing pride and honor to the city following her string of success in the international arena.

City Councilor Al Ryan Alejandre said the eight-year-old Mascariñas displayed determination as an athlete and brought the city’s name in the international stage after winning the 2026 Superkit Junior Elite Tour Philippines at the Apo Golf and Country Club and a top five finish in the 2026 Under Armour Junior World Golf Championships at the Reunion Resort Golf Course in Orlando, Florida.

Mascariñas who trains at the city-renowned Apo Golf and Country Club and South Pacific Golf Club Davao also finished in the top 19 of the USwing Mojing Junior World Tour in San Diego California and top 16 in the 2026 World Golf Championships in Pinehurst, North Carolina, where she was also awarded with a World Championship Medallion.

“We are really proud of her as she showcased remarkable talent to earn a top finish in the international field. It is a proud moment for us Dabawenyos,” said Alejandre, who also passed a resolution to honor Mascariñas’ incredible talent.
