Authorities cleared National University-Mall of Asia (NU-MOA) of explosive devices and hazardous materials Thursday following a bomb threat that prompted school officials to shift morning classes online.

The threat was initially reported to campus safety officials via Facebook Messenger around 11:26 p.m. Wednesday, according to the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO).

The information was relayed to local authorities around 7:50 a.m. Thursday.

Personnel from the Pasay City Police Sub-Station, the local Explosive Ordnance Disposal and K-9 Unit, the Pasay Investigation Division, and the Bureau of Fire Protection were deployed to inspect the campus premises.

Pasay City Police chief Col. Joselito de Sesto confirmed that a thorough search yielded negative results for any hazardous materials or explosive devices.

As a precaution during the security sweep, NU-MOA suspended in-person sessions and transitioned morning classes to remote synchronous learning.

In an official update, the university confirmed the campus had been cleared and announced that face-to-face classes and examinations would resume at 1 p.m.

Police are continuing to investigate the origin of the message to identify and potentially file charges against the individual responsible for the threat.
