A Filipina household helper in Al Mizhar, Dubai, United Arab Emirates, said on Sunday that they occasionally hear rockets being launched, which is why many now want to go home if travel is allowed.

“Every 10 minutes, we are receiving an emergency alert. Since Saturday night (28 February), we have been hearing explosions every 30 mins. But now, Sunday, medyo every hour na lang. I’ve been having a nervous breakdown. Ayaw ko ng ganito, maya-maya maririnig mong may sumasabog. Kung makakauwi na kami, sana makauwi na lang. Ayoko nang bumalik dito,” Kristine De Jesus said in an online interview.

De Jesus, who has worked as a household helper for almost two years, said they are still waiting for guidance from the Philippine Embassy or the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration on what to do.

She said the emergency alerts are being sent by the UAE’s National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority, which states: “Due to the current situation, a potential missile threat. Seek immediate shelter in the closest secure building, and steer away from windows, doors, and open areas. Await further instructions.”

The notification added that the UAE prioritizes the safety and security of its citizens, residents, and visitors, and that the situation remains under full control.

“Authorities are operating within a fully integrated national framework, with the highest levels of preparedness and efficiency. Your safety remains our utmost priority. Please remain indoors in safe areas, await official instructions, and rely solely on official sources for updates,” it said.

Dubai International Airport was hit by an Iranian missile on Sunday, injuring four staff.

De Jesus, however, said the airport in Abu Dhabi was hit.

Reuters reported that an overnight Iranian attack damaged one of the terminals at Dubai Airport.
