CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga – A tricycle driver navigating morning traffic along Burgos Avenue in Cabanatuan City lost control of his vehicle after suffering a stroke, drifting across lanes and scraping the curb before coming to an abrupt stop.

The driver was found unresponsive, prompting a Nueva Ecija Police Provincial Office (NEPPO) officer who was on patrol in the area to immediately rush to his assistance.

Police Senior Master Sergeant (PSMS) Joel V. Dimaun was on routine patrol when he spotted the trike weaving dangerously through cars on 13 February. By the time the vehicle ground to a halt in the middle of the road, the driver was slumped over the controls, pale and limp, NEPPO said in its report to the Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3).

With help from a passing motorist, Dimaun moved the man to safety and raced him to a nearby hospital, where doctors confirmed he had suffered a stroke.

"The driver is now in stable condition and receiving treatment at a local facility," NEPPO Provincial Director PCOL Heryl Bruno confirmed.

Bruno praised the officer, saying, "Any officer should do exactly what Dimaun did. When someone is in trouble, the right thing is simply to help."

The rescue came on the same day as several other key operations across the province.
