Dear Atty. Nico,
Police on Tuesday afternoon arrested a 38-year-old former company driver wanted for allegedly stealing a delivery truck from his previous employer.
The suspect, a resident of Barangay Pasolo, was taken into custody in Barangay Malinta by personnel from the Northern Police District (NPD). The arrest was based on a warrant for violating the New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016, issued by Valenzuela City Regional Trial Court Branch 284.
The court has recommended a bail of P300,000.
According to the investigation, an aluminum van truck parked at a warehouse in Valenzuela was reported missing 4 December 2025. Surveillance footage allegedly showed the suspect taking the vehicle after forcibly obtaining the ignition keys earlier that night in Barangay Karuhatan.
Investigators said they have not yet determined a motive for the theft.
The NPD is currently preparing the Return of Warrant of Arrest to formally notify the issuing court that the suspect has been apprehended. Police officials said the arrest is part of a sustained campaign against carnapping and other property crimes in the district.
