A couple was declared dead after a fire hit a residential area in Barangay Tejeros, Makati City early today.

Reports said Makati Mayor Nancy Binay confirmed the deaths of an elderly couple.

The fire broke out at 2:06 a.m. along Butate Street and was raised to third alarm at 2:35 a.m. It was placed under control at 4:26 a.m.

Fire out was declared at 6:40 a.m.

Six people — four women and two men — were injured in the blaze.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire and whether there were other casualties.
