The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) conducted a series of clearing operations along major thoroughfares in Quezon City on Friday morning, 23 January 2026, to ease traffic and remove obstructions.
The operation was led by Gabriel Go, head of the MMDA Special Operations Group–Strike Force. MMDA personnel removed illegal obstructions and apprehended illegally parked vehicles to ensure smoother traffic flow in the Cubao area.
During the operation, the MMDA issued violation tickets along EDSA-Cubao against taxi drivers found idling on the roadside. While some drivers said they were only stopping to pick up passengers, authorities stressed that the area must remain clear of stationary vehicles.
The clearing drive also targeted illegally parked motorcycles, including those owned by MMDA personnel. Several agency staff members were issued tickets after parking their private motorcycles in unauthorized zones while on duty.
One member of the MMDA Sidewalk Clearing personnel admitted to the violation but explained that he parked in the area due to his assignment nearby.
In Barangay Kaunlaran, a vehicle was towed along N. Domingo Street after authorities discovered that the driver was operating with a suspended license. Go said N. Domingo Street is a designated Mabuhay Lane and should be kept clear at all times.
The MMDA said clearing operations will continue across Quezon City to maintain order on secondary roads that serve as alternative routes for motorists.
