Malacañang on Tuesday dismissed allegations linking Atty. Andre de Jesus to Liza Araneta Marcos in connection with the impeachment case, calling the claims baseless.
Palace press briefer Claire Castro said during a briefing on 20 January that if the allegation were the basis for filing the impeachment complaint, then “malamang wala sila makitang ibang dahilan.”
She stressed that such claims would not constitute valid grounds for impeachment.
Castro also said allegations claiming that Atty. de Jesus is connected to the First Lady in relation to the impeachment case are untrue, expressing hope that the spread of fake news would stop.
She clarified that the First Lady never filed a disbarment case, is not the lawyer of Atty. de Jesus, and that if the lawyer filed any case, he did so on his own and does not represent the First Lady in any capacity.
Castro added that the administration respects the Constitution and due process should the impeachment complaint move forward.
