The House of Representatives has declared the two impeachment complaints filed against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. insufficient in substance due to the lack of physical or concrete evidence.
The next step is plenary consideration, as the House Committee on Justice finalizes its report and resolution.
In an interview on DZRH, House Justice Committee Chairperson Gerville Luistro said the panel is completing the documents before formally transmitting them to the plenary.
Attention is now shifting to the impeachment complaints filed against Vice President Sara Duterte, which Luistro described as “unprecedented” and “historical,” citing the rarity of impeachment proceedings involving both the President and Vice President within the same period.
Luistro stressed that the dismissal of the complaints against President Marcos highlights the importance of submitting impeachment cases with complete, verifiable evidence already attached.
She said substantiation is critical for the process to move forward meaningfully.
On Duterte’s assertion that there is no concrete basis for her impeachment, Luistro said it would be premature to draw conclusions until the committee report is formally referred to the House.
