The Coast Guard District Bicol has recovered the body of a missing fisherman in the waters off Sitio Lipata, Barangay Gogon, Caramoan, Camarines Sur on 5 January 2026.

According to the Coast Guard Station Camarines Sur, personnel from Coast Guard Sub-Station Guijalo and CGS Camarines Sur coordinated with the Philippine National Police–Caramoan and the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) of Caramoan during the retrieval operation.

The operation was launched after a concerned resident of Sitio Lipata reported a sighting of a body in the area. The remains were later positively identified through tattoo markings.

The Coast Guard Station Camarines Sur, together with Coast Guard Sub-Station Guijalo and the Coast Guard Special Operations Unit (SOU) Camarines Sur, formally turned over the remains to the victim’s relatives in coordination with the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office of San Andres for proper disposition and post-recovery procedures.

The Coast Guard District Bicol reiterated its commitment to safeguarding life and property at sea through timely response, close coordination with partner agencies, and continuous maritime monitoring.

CGDBCL also renewed its warning to the public—particularly fishermen and boat operators—to always check weather conditions before heading out to sea, ensure vessels are seaworthy, carry complete safety equipment, and strictly observe maritime safety regulations to prevent similar incidents.
