Bataan: A hub for tech

BALANGA, Bataan — The City of Balanga buzzed with tech energy on Friday as Bataan hosted the 1Bataan Semicon and Electronics Summit 2025 at the Bataan Tourism Pavilion. The event brought together industry leaders, government officials, educators, and key stakeholders, all under one roof to discuss the future of semiconductors and electronics in the province.
“This summit is all about building bridges between the government and the private sector, exploring new technologies, and opening doors for more jobs and investments here in Bataan,” said Congresswoman Angela Garcia, Bataan’s Third District representative. She also thanked Undersecretary Ceferino “Perry” S. Rodolfo for delivering the keynote address that set the tone for the day.
The summit featured discussions on industry trends, workforce development, and the growing role of Bataan as a strategic hub for semiconductors and electronics in the Philippines and Southeast Asia. Speakers included Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) deputy director general Nelly Nita Dillera, Board of Investments Supervising Investments Specialist June Villasanta, and representatives from investment agencies like Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan, Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority and Hermosa Ecozone Industrial Park, who shared their insights on strengthening the sector. Messages of support also came from TESDA director general Secretary Jose Francisco “Kiko” Benitez and SAP for Investment and Economic Affairs Undersecretary Ma. Angela Ignacio.
A key highlight of the summit was the signing of a memorandum of agreement between the Provincial Government of Bataan and the Board of Investments. The agreement, focused on “Promotion and Facilitation of Investments at Investor Servicing,” is designed to attract investors and ensure a smooth, investor-friendly process in the province.
