Police nab 81-year-old suspect in fatal stabbing of wife

Police arrested an 81-year-old man who allegedly killed his wife inside their home in Barangay Sto. Domingo, Cainta, Rizal, early Friday morning, 12 December.

The suspect was identified by police under the alias Jaime, a resident of No. 027 Gloria Street, Marick Subdivision, Cainta.

Initial investigation showed that the incident occurred at around 12:30 a.m. Their son, who was sleeping on the second floor of the house, woke up after hearing his mother, identified as alias Marieta, screaming for help.

The son immediately rushed downstairs and found his mother with a stab wound, bleeding from the neck, while his father was allegedly holding a kitchen knife.

He sought immediate assistance from authorities, which led to the arrest of the suspect.

The 81-year-old man is now detained at the Cainta Municipal Police Station custodial facility and is facing charges of parricide.

Police said pertinent documents are being prepared for the referral of the case to the Rizal Provincial Prosecutor’s Office through inquest proceedings.
