LAMITAN CITY, Basilan — The holiday season is coming early for more than 500 Lamitan City local government employees. Each is set to receive a “special Christmas benefit” of 55,000, Mayor Roderick “Oric” Furigay announced on Thursday.

City Budget Officer Ken Calolot Bisal confirmed the budget is ready and set for release, ensuring employees get their pay-out well before Christmas.

“This benefit is a small but meaningful way to recognize their dedication and help bring joy, comfort, and celebration to their families during this season of giving,” Mayor Furigay said. “Our LGU team is the backbone of the city’s growth and daily operations. Every day, they go above and beyond to keep Lamitan running smoothly and to serve our residents.”

The announcement comes on the heels of the city’s earlier year-end bonuses, including a P5,000 cash gift distributed on 14 November. With this new special benefit, the city is doubling down on its commitment to supporting its workforce and fostering a spirit of gratitude and unity.

Employees expressed delight at the news, saying the gesture reinforces their sense of pride and appreciation for the city government, especially during the festive season when family and celebration take center stage.

Bisal assured that the funds have been properly allocated in the city’s annual budget, guaranteeing that the payouts will be distributed without delay.

With this special Christmas benefit, Lamitan City not only rewards its hardworking employees but also sends a message of appreciation and care that resonates beyond the office walls and into the hearts of the community.
