The province of Nueva Ecija is the second biggest contributor to the agriculture, forestry, and fishing (AFF) sector in the country for the year 2024.
According to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), Nueva Ecija contributed 4.6 percent of the total Gross Value Added (GVA) of the AFF, reflecting the strong agricultural prowess of the province.
The PSA said Nueva Ecija is part of the top 10 provinces with the biggest contribution to the national AFF GVA, collectively accounting for 36.3 percent of the total AFF output of the country.
Nueva Ecija remains one of the leading provinces in the agricultural sector of the Philippines.
A report stated that the Provincial Product Accounts (PPA), which measures the overall contribution of provinces and highly urbanized cities to the economy, has been implemented nationwide since 2024 and was formally institutionalized in 2025 through PSA Board Resolution No. 1, Series of 2025.
The PPA has also provided detailed local data to further understand the actual contribution of provinces such as Nueva Ecija. The province remains one of the most important in the country in terms of agriculture, continuing to contribute substantially to national production and development.
Nueva Ecija is a landlocked province in the Central Luzon region of the Philippines, known nationally as the “Rice Granary of the Philippines” because it produces the largest rice yield in the country. Its capital is Palayan City, while Cabanatuan is its largest and economic center.
The province is also a major agricultural hub, leading in the production of onions (particularly in Bongabon), buffalo milk, vegetables, and fruits in the region.
