Six Chinese nationals have been arrested by Immigration authorities in separate operations across Bataan and Tarlac as part of ongoing efforts against illegal foreign workers.
The Bureau of Immigration (BI) on Tuesday said its intelligence operatives first arrested 55-year-old Li Mingguan on 13 November in Barangay Balsic, Hermosa. Li was reportedly employed at a manufacturing firm in Hermosa despite possessing a work visa with an employer in Bohol.
On 17 November, BI along with the National Bureau of Investigation and local barangay officials conducted a raid in a residence located in Barangay Estrada, Capas, Tarlac, resulting in the arrest of five more Chinese nationals for alleged involvement in illegal online activities.
Initial findings show four of the suspects carried work visas issued for a Quezon City-based company, while another had a retiree visa but currently faces charges for harboring undocumented foreigners.
BI said the arrested individuals are currently in their detention facility in Taguig pending deportation proceedings.
