The National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) on Tuesday said it has convened several accredited Philippine National Police (PNP) uniform suppliers to discuss strengthened regulatory measures and enhanced accountability in the manufacturing, sale, distribution, and use of the official police uniform.

During the meeting, suppliers were briefed on the increasing prevalence of unauthorized sellers operating near the PNP National Headquarters and across various online platforms. NAPOLCOM noted that the continued circulation of unregulated uniforms undermines authenticity and compromises institutional standards.

NAPOLCOM Chief Commissioner Rafael Vicente R. Calinisan reiterated that the Commission will be taking decisive steps to protect the integrity of the police uniform as a symbol of professionalism and public trust.

“The PNP uniform is not just clothing, it is a badge of honor that represents duty, integrity, and public service. We cannot allow unauthorized reproduction and illegal selling to tarnish that symbol. NAPOLCOM will intensify enforcement and ensure that only legitimate suppliers are part of this system of accountability,” Calinisan said.

He added that the Commission will tighten monitoring both on the ground and online to ensure compliance, prevent misuse, and safeguard the credibility of the police service. The meeting marks the start of more coordinated regulatory efforts between NAPOLCOM and accredited suppliers to strengthen oversight in uniform production and distribution.

The move comes after a Halloween incident in Makati City where a partygoer wore a modified PNP uniform, prompting acting PNP Chief P/LtGen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. to remind the public that the police uniform should never be used as a gimmick or novelty outfit.

“The uniform represents the trust and responsibility vested in our police officers; it should always be treated with respect,” Nartatez said.

The incident involved Daryll Isidro, who appeared online wearing a customized PNP uniform with the sleeves cut off — drawing sharp criticism from Calinisan.

“This use of PNP uniform as a Halloween costume is total disrespect for our men in uniform,” Calinisan wrote in a social media post, calling the act “not a laughing matter but against the law.”
