Combining her love of learning and teaching children, First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos expressed her joy after leading the opening of the Children’s Library at the National Library of the Philippines.
“They say books don’t just teach children to read — they teach them to think,” she wrote on social media.
For Mrs. Marcos, the new spot for soon-to-be avid readers was “designed to spark imagination, encourage digital learning and make reading fun.”
During the event, the First Lady spent some time with students and led a tour of the new library. Other activities included a reading session, playing with blocks, and learning with new digital equipment.
The Children’s Library was opened to the public on Monday.
“So happy to open the new Children’s Library at the National Library of the Philippines,” she said.
“Bring your little ones and let them play, explore, and build a lifelong love for learning,” she added.
Achievements marked
Meanwhile, the Philippine First Ladies’ Portraits Book was launched recently to celebrate the achievements and contributions of the nation’s former First Ladies.
“Such a lovely evening at the Goldenberg Mansion for the launch of the Philippine First Ladies Portraits Book,” Mrs. Marcos said.
“Thank you to Anthony T. Huang, Lulu Coching-Rodriguez and Jose R. Rodriguez, and the Tantoco-Rustia Foundation for continuing this beautiful tradition of honoring our First Ladies through art and history,” she added.
The portraits of the First Ladies, created by Lulu Coching-Rodriguez, are on display in the Presidential Museum at the Teus Mansion in Malacañang. The artworks are also printed in the coffee table book written by Jose Rodriguez.
