Long before TikTok trends and viral dance covers, the SexBomb Dancers ruled the pop and television scene — and among its most energetic members was Cheche Tolentino, known for her radiant smile, magnetic stage presence, and signature moves. But behind the glitter and the beat, Cheche has discovered another side of herself — one that swaps sequins for paintbrushes and dance floors for canvases.
In an exclusive interview, SexBomb Cheche opened up about her newfound love for painting and visual arts, a passion that began almost by accident but has now grown into one of her life’s greatest sources of joy and peace.
Cheche recalled that her painting journey began in August 2023 during a workshop organized by the Rotary Club of Malingap for children with autism, titled “Capturing Hope.”
“Originally, mag-a-assist lang po ako sa mga bata,” she shared. “Pero ‘yung friend ko pinag-paint na din ako kaya dun na po nag-start yung painting journey ko. Hindi ko akalain meron pala akong talent sa pag-paint.”
Encouraged by her best friend Michael See, her mentor Teacher Aimee, and her supportive family — including her SexBomb family — Cheche continued to pursue painting seriously.
“Nagulat sila na may ganon daw pala akong talent, kaya ‘yung iba nagpapagawa na ng artworks sa akin!” she said with a laugh.
Her interest in drawing actually began when she was around nine years old, inspired by her sister and fellow SexBomb member Sandy.
“Nakikita ko kasi si Ate Sandy magaling mag-drawing ng Sailor Moon, kaya na-inspire ako. Pero lapis lang gamit ko noon at bihira akong mag-drawing, kapag nasa mood lang,” she recalled.
Asked what subjects she loves to paint the most, Cheche quickly answered:
“Nature — kasi it makes me feel more at ease. Mas ramdam mo ‘yung peace of mind pag nakikita mo ‘yung dagat, ‘yung waves, sunset, trees, etc.”
Her artworks often reflect serenity and optimism — a stark yet beautiful contrast to the high-energy world of showbiz she’s known for.
For Cheche, art has become more than a hobby — it’s a form of healing and happiness.
“Goal ko is to give happiness and inspiration through my artwork,” she said. “I want people to feel joy when they see my paintings.”
Even her SexBomb sisters have expressed admiration and support for her artistic talent.
“Yes po, nagpapagawa nga po sila ng portrait nila! Di ko palang nagagawa lahat, pero naka-line up na sila!” she said with a grin.
When asked when she feels most inspired to paint, Cheche’s answer was simple but full of heart.
“Best time to paint is kapag masaya ako — kasi para nasa kondisyon ‘yung katawan ko at mind ko to paint.”
With her growing experience in the art scene, Cheche also offered an inspiring message to aspiring visual artists:
“Just keep pushing what you love. Be inspired, stay motivated, and tell yourself: You are an amazing person — keep up to inspire!”
Fans who wish to see Cheche’s colorful creations can find them on her YouTube channel, Cheche Tolentino, where she shares painting videos and tutorials.
“Doon ko pinapakita kung paano ako mag-paint and how it works,” she said.
From captivating audiences on Eat Bulaga! to capturing serenity on canvas, Cheche Tolentino continues to evolve — proving that creativity knows no bounds. Whether she’s dancing under the spotlight or painting under soft sunlight, one thing remains true: Cheche is an artist through and through — fearless, expressive, and inspiring.
