DUPAX DEL NORTE, Nueva Vizcaya — Village officials in Nueva Vizcaya have manifested their strong stance against the entry of mining into their land through local legislation.

Barangay Munguia officials, through Resolution No. 29, Series of 2025, declared all representatives of Woggle Corporation as “persona non grata,” effectively banning the company’s officials, employees, and agents from the village. The officials said the move was in response to Woggle Mining’s continued attempts to conduct exploration despite strong local opposition.

Woggle Corporation reportedly planned exploration work in Purok Keon, Bitnong, an area within the barangay’s jurisdiction. Residents and local leaders had earlier rejected the proposal, citing serious concerns about potential environmental and social impacts.

The resolution also alleges that Woggle cut down several trees in the area without a permit from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), further heightening local fears of environmental damage.

Barangay officials said the company’s continued presence, despite repeated warnings, showed “disregard for local authority and the will of the residents.” They warned that the situation could escalate into conflict if the firm persisted with its operations.

The barangay council urged residents and local institutions to withdraw any support for Woggle Corporation, asserting that protecting their land and natural resources remains the community’s foremost concern.

The resolution was signed unanimously by all members of the Sangguniang Barangay.
