Some 2,000 food packs were delivered via airlift to communities heavily affected by Super Typhoon Uwan in the Municipality of Alfonso Castaneda, Nueva Vizcaya on Friday.

This is part of a rapid and coordinated humanitarian operation, troops from Charlie Company, 91st Infantry “Sinagtala” Battalion, 7th Infantry “Kaugnay” Division, Philippine Army.

The barangays of Pelaway and Cawayan, severely impacted by the typhoon, were left isolated after the effects of the Super Typhoon UWAN leaving damaged vital roads and bridges.

To overcome these challenges, the Tactical Operations Group 2 (TOG 2) of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) provided crucial airlift assistance to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Region II, enabling the rapid transport of essential relief goods to these hard-to-reach areas.

Army personnel played a key role in ensuring a smooth distribution process by assisting in the transport of goods, crowd management, and overall security, guaranteeing that relief reached the affected families safely and efficiently. Their efforts highlighted the AFP’s unwavering commitment to delivering aid to disaster-stricken communities—especially those cut off from immediate support.

The relief mission, held at Barangay Pelaway, was a collaborative effort made possible by the presence and coordination of several agencies and local offices of DSWD Region II, Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) – Nueva Vizcaya and Philippine National Police (PNP) and Barangay Officials of Pelaway and Cawayan.

With hundreds of families isolated and urgently needing assistance, the use of AFP air assets proved vital in overcoming logistical barriers. The timely deployment of resources ensured that food packs reached the affected barangays when they needed them most.

The AFP reaffirmed its dedication to humanitarian assistance and disaster response, emphasizing its ongoing commitment to working closely with local government units and partner agencies.

Through sustained cooperation, the AFP remains steadfast in helping communities recover and rebuild following the devastation caused by Typhoon Uwan.
