Globe Telecom has intensified its campaign against Online Sexual Abuse or Exploitation of Children (OSAEC) and Child Sexual Abuse or Exploitation Material (CSAEM) by joining forces with the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (IACAT) and local stakeholders in Zamboanga City.

The joint effort recently gathered over 300 participants, including officials from the Department of Justice, the Commission on Human Rights, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), the Philippine National Police (PNP), and the Zamboanga City Local Government Unit, underscoring the urgency of a "whole-of-community approach" to safeguard children.

“Protecting children online requires more than technology; it demands collective action,” said Yoly Crisanto, Globe’s Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer. “Globe is proud to stand with IACAT, government agencies, and civil society to address both the digital and social drivers of exploitation.”

Globe reported that its sophisticated filtering system blocked more than 484 million scam and spam messages in the first half of 2025 alone. The company also shut down 5,707 malicious domains linked to child exploitation and harmful content and dismantled 2,785 illegal gambling sites.

In partnership with local and international watchdogs, Globe’s filtering system barred access to 248,552 URLs containing child sexual abuse material, including 8,385 AI-generated materials. Furthermore, the company's StopSpam portal processed 87,624 SIM reports, leading to 9,961 SIM deactivations on the Globe network.

Beyond enforcement, Globe is stressing education through its Digital Thumbprint Program (DTP), which has reached over 12,000 students across 43 schools this year. The company also provides resources for parents through its MakeItSafe website and co-developed the award-winning children’s book Safe Space: A Kid’s Guide to Data Privacy, which is currently on display at the National Museum.

Globe said that meaningful impact requires pairing technology with education, community engagement and shared responsibility.
