A fire broke out in Barangay 127, Pasay City, late Friday night, killing a 10-year-old girl and affecting 70 families.

According to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the fire started at 11:07 p.m. and spread quickly due to light building materials and congested houses. About 40 BFP fire trucks responded and extinguished the blaze at 12:22 a.m. Saturday, 18 October 2025.

The fire displaced a total of 357 individuals, including the deceased child.

In a television interview, the mother of the victim said her daughter had been left at home with her 13-year-old brother. The older brother jumped from their third floor to the ground in panic but could not find his sister, who did not survive.

“My son jumped onto the roof, of course, out of panic. He was looking for his sibling but couldn’t find her anymore,” the mother said.

The fire reached third alarm. Pasig City Social Welfare and Development reported that the blaze was caused by faulty electrical wiring. The BFP estimated the total damage at around P450,000.

The victims were temporarily housed at Juan Sumulong Elementary School. Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano ordered the setup of modular tents and provision of food packs and other necessary supplies for the affected families.
