The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) on Thursday has expanded its flight safety advisory to include Mayon Volcano. 

In an advisory Thursday, CAAP said Mayon has been added to its flight safety advisories covering Bulusan, Kanlaon, and Taal Volcanoes. An updated Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs) were issued to ensure safe flight operations near the areas. 

The NOTAM for Mayon Volcano is effective from 8:50 a.m. on 16 October until 9:00 a.m. on 17 October, covering airspace from the surface up to 11,000 feet. 

Similar advisories were also issued for the following:

• Bulusan Volcano - 16-17 October from 8:52 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.

• Kanlaon Volcano - 16-17 October from 9:05 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. 

• Taal Volcano - 16-17 October from 8:51 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. 

All flight operators are advised to avoid flying close to the summits of the volcano and to monitor advisories for further updates. 

According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) in its latest 24-hour bulletin, Mayon recorded two rockfall events and a moderate emission of volcanic plume drifting west-southwest and west. 

Kanlaon in Negros Island reported 81 volcanic quakes between midnight and 10 a.m, while Taal Volcano in Batangas logged three volcanic quakes and a 600-meter-tall plume. 

Bulusan Volcano in Sorsogon registered 72 volcanic quakes last 11 October.
