Passengers flying through Iloilo International Airport may notice late-night closures over the next month and a half as the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) carries out runaway improvement works.
The enhancement works, which commenced on Monday, 11 August aims to enhance safer and efficient airport operations by improving runway edge strips and correcting slopes.
The project also involves removal of soil deposits, filling of low-lying areas, and improving drainage systems in order to avoid water pooling during heavy rains.
To make way for the work, a Notice to Airmen has been issued closing the airport from 12 a.m. to 4 a.m. daily.
“This schedule was coordinated with airline operators prior to implementation to ensure no flights will be affected,” CAAP said.
The project is expected to be completed within 45 working days.
