Tarlac City — Five people were killed and nine others were injured Tuesday morning when a light truck was involved in an accident on the Central Luzon Expressway.

Initial reports disclosed that the crash occurred between 7:55 a.m. and 8 a.m. in the town of La Paz.

The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) of La Paz immediately responded to the emergency call and requested additional medical support from the provincial and city disaster offices, as well as the Philippine Red Cross (PRC).

The PRC said the organization’s Tarlac chapter deployed an ambulance and four personnel, adding that 11 of the injured were taken to Tarlac Provincial Hospital, and three were taken to Jecsons Medical Center.

“Our fleet of ambulances remains on standby for any additional transport needs, and arrangements are ready should blood be required,” said the PRC in a statement.
