Mad Ramos, the inaugural Sparkle Campus Cutie winner, is more than just a captivating face.

Born Ahmad Ramos on 16 November 2005, this 19-year-old rising star is making waves in the entertainment industry with his undeniable talent, deep-rooted ambition and a powerful commitment to representing his Muslim faith. Mad has officially joined the cast of the Kapuso youth-oriented series Maka and here are five things that make him a standout new personality.

A proud voice for the Muslim community

At the core of Mad’s aspirations is a profound desire to be a beacon for the Muslim community.

“I want to represent the Muslim community, to show that we can truly excel in this field, in this industry,” he passionately shared.

He acknowledged the scarcity of Muslim representation in showbiz and sees himself as an agent of change.

“Only a few of us try this, right? I’ve stepped up to represent the Muslim community and I hope you all will be proud of me.”

His mission is clear: To inspire his Muslim brothers and sisters and showcase their capabilities on a wider stage. He expressed his gratitude for his win, saying, “I only caught up at the end, so I didn’t really expect it, and Alhamdulillah for this opportunity.”

Beyond the intimidating gaze: A friendly soul

While Mad admitted his appearance can sometimes come across as intimidating, he quickly clarified, “I’m a very friendly and approachable guy.”

This approachable demeanor, coupled with his striking looks, has undoubtedly contributed to his rapid rise. He is currently a graduating Grade 12 student at the University of Santo Tomas (UST) and plans to pursue Customs Administration in college, demonstrating his commitment to education alongside his burgeoning career.

An accomplished athlete: From court to camera

Before stepping into the limelight, Mad was already an accomplished volleyball player for UST’s varsity team.

“I was recruited there, which is how I was able to study there,” he explained.

This athletic background not only speaks to his discipline and dedication but also informs his acting aspirations.

Dream of action: pushing boundaries with purpose

When discussing his ideal acting roles, Mad envisioned himself as an action star, believing his athletic prowess gives him an edge.

“I feel that’s my advantage, and I could also be a leading man, right?” he mused.

He is also mindful of his faith, acknowledging, “Even if I have boundaries as a Muslim. Of course, we’ll work things out; there’s a way to do it.”

In 10 years, he sees himself as a successful actor and model, eager to seize every opportunity to learn and grow.

“Actually, I want to take everything. I’m that hungry right now; I want to take everything and learn,” he declared.

Rooted in family: a pillar of support

Mad is deeply family-oriented, crediting his grandmother and parents for their unwavering support. He shared how they provided guidance during challenging moments, including interview preparations.

“I’m very thankful that they supported me until the end,” he said. “You can see that others came all the way from Mindanao, who flew from Mindanao to here just to support me. That’s how much they love me.”

His family’s dedication clearly fuels his drive to succeed and make them proud.
