Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Acting Chief P/Col. Randy Glenn Silvio reported Sunday the arrest of eight drug suspects and the confiscation of illegal drugs worth P477,754 in separate buy-bust and anti-criminality operations conducted by various QCPD police stations.

In a major operation, the Batasan Police Station (PS 6), under P/Lt. Col. Romil Avenido, arrested a high-value individual identified as alias “Juvher,” 35, a resident of Brgy. Commonwealth, Quezon City.

Reports show that at 1:30 AM on 26 July 2025, along Kilyawan Street, Brgy. Commonwealth, PS 6 conducted a buy-bust operation in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), following a concerned citizen’s report of the suspect’s illegal drug activity. A police officer acted as a poseur buyer and bought P3,300 worth of marijuana from the suspect, who was arrested at a pre-arranged signal.

Confiscated from the suspect were three kilograms of marijuana fruiting tops valued at P360,000 and 69 grams of marijuana hashish worth P17,250, a cellphone, a pouch, and the marked buy-bust money.

Upon verification through the Investigation Solution Automatic Verification (ISAV) System, it was revealed that the suspect had previous cases for physical injury (October 2015), violation of R.A. 9165 (June 2022), and illegal possession of deadly weapons under BP Blg. 6 (February 2017).

Meanwhile, seven other drug suspects were arrested by other police stations, which also confiscated P100,504 worth of shabu and drug paraphernalia.

The arrested suspects will be charged for violation of R.A. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, before the Quezon City Prosecutor's Office.

Silvio lauded the efforts of QCPD operatives for their continuous campaign against illegal drugs.

"Ipagpatuloy lang natin ang masigasig na pagpapatupad ng batas laban sa kriminalidad lalo na ang illegal na droga upang protektahan ang mamamayan dito sa ating Lungsod," he said.
